What to Expect
What can I get out of therapy?
It’s a great way to talk about what you’re going through with someone who doesn’t have a stake in the outcome other than helping you determine what’s right for you. Therapy can help you learn about what you’re feeling, why you’re feeling it, and how to cope with it.
Okay, how do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
This is a really important question - you should work with a therapist you can be honest and open with. I work with high functioning professionals who are engaging in behaviors that no longer serve them and are experiencing a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, work stress, substance misuse, family conflict, and relationship difficulties. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
What will a session look like?
Utilizing my extensive experience working with people struggling with substance misuse and addiction, I create a safe, non-judgmental space to support clients in exploring their behaviors and discussing their feelings and doubts without fear. I approach each session with openness, curiosity, and warmth to encourage your growth and progress.
We’ll work together to set goals, see what is getting in the way, and use your strengths to work toward positive change.
How long is each therapy session?
Each session is 45 minutes long. At the start of therapy, weekly sessions are recommended for both assessment and progress. For more support, twice weekly sessions may be recommended.
What can I expect from my 15-minute phone consultation?
Your 15-minute complementary consultation is a time to discuss why you are choosing to seek therapy at this time and what you are looking to address. It is a chance to see if you feel comfortable discussing your issues and if this is a good fit for your needs. We will also discuss logistics including the session rate and setting up your initial appointment.
How can I make the most of my virtual session?
Do your best to find a truly private, safe space. Find a place to have your session where you will not be disturbed and can focus on the therapy. Test your technology ahead of time so that our session will be less likely to be interrupted by connection issues. Make sure that you will be able to hear me and that I will be able to hear you.
